Clement Carpentier Q&A

We recently added Clement Carpentier to our French team through Unleaded BMX in France! With Clement's welcome edit in the works, we figured we could hit him with a few questions to introduce you to him! Expect to see plenty more of him in the future!

Hey Clement, how are things going over in France?
Everything's good. Summer is coming and that is always a good thing.

You have been on Fly Bikes for a little while now. What do you think so far?
Well, I'm pretty stoked on the new adventure and I can't wait for the rest to come!

What is it about Fly Bikes that made you want to ride for us?
Well, I have to say that Flybikes is a special brand to me, because I used to ride a Flybikes frame 6 years ago when I had no sponsor. I had no money, my friend gave it to me and I rode with it for 2 years with no problems. Plus, the fact that Flybikes is getting more street oriented with its riders such as Devon Smilie and Shane Weston but still have legends like Ruben Alcantara is something that made me want to ride for Fly.

What are you running for a setup?
I’m running Devon Smillie’s signature Fuego in stainless for the frame and bars. I love it. I also run Flybikes wheels and tires. The rest is Foundation BMX parts, which includes my pro model fork.

How do you like that Stainless color?
It has to be the best looking bike I have ever had. I love it. It looks awesome!

What is your favorite part on your bike?
I think my frame and bars. It feels really good to ride with my pro model fork. I love pretty much every part I’m running anyway, haha.

What are your plans for the summer? Do you have anything lined up with the Unleaded crew you can tell us about?
I just got back from a few days in Lyon to film for my Flybikes welcome edit. I’m going to Barcelona in a week to finish this edit, so it should be done soon. This summer I wanna try to ride as much as possible and film for an Etnies edit too. I will be attending the Sosh Urban Motion contest in Paris in July as well.

What’s the scene like over in France? Are there a lot of riders and spots to ride?
It depends where you are, like anywhere else I suppose. I’m from Le Havre, a northern city. We have a good skatepark and many spots, but the BMX scene is not really big. The south of France is where the scene is the biggest.

You recently gave a freecoaster a go, right? How did it impact your riding? Why didn’t you keep in on your bike?
I wanted to switch to a freecoaster, but I decided to stay with my K7 because nowadays everyone is riding with a free coaster and I don't want to follow everyone .I think it looks good though.

What are you up to when you aren’t riding? Do you have any hobbies, jobs, school or anything like that filling up your time?
I work, spendsome time with my girlfriend and party. I like to be outside whenever it’s sunny!

Are your on Instagram, Twitter, etc.? Where can people follow you?
